St.Peters

Fifteen students from the Japanese class at our sister school,
St.Peters Cambridge, visited our school from April 16th(Tues)〜19th(Fri).

This program is held once every two years,
with our last visit from St. Peters being in the 2017 school year.
Starting in 2010, our students have been receiving warm welcomes to St. Peters
every summer for a two-week long homestay visit.

The St. Peters students that visited this time around
traveled all around Japan to sightsee and learn new things.
Throughout their stay in Kobe,
the students stayed in Shoin students’ homes as a homestay guest as well.

We visited the Himeji castle with the group,
as well as the two St. Peters exchange students that had been visiting from two weeks prior.

Some St. Peters students were able to join the Japanese tea ceremony club with their host sisters.

We were delighted to see just how excited everyone seemed
in the English classes for both high school and junior high school.
Many Shoin students made their way to the English Room during lunchtime as well.

Here are pictures from the Welcome Ceremony.

Although the students from both schools seemed nervous at first,
they seemed to have bonded throughout the 4-day homestay and were reluctant to say goodbye.

Even though the homestay was extended from last time to a three-night and four-day stay,
the St. Peters students seemed to be able to spend a trip
filled with wonderful experiences with the help of Shoin students and their families.

Throughout our various programs with St. Peters
(such as the short term stay in the summer as well as the exchange program in the spring),
we have sent over 100 Shoin students to New Zealand.
They have all had fantastic learning experiences while being surrounded by nature,
as well as a different language and culture.
Our hope is that this exchange program continues to give students the chance to learn new things.
